The relationship  between Gilgamesh and the Old Testament (Genesis 6-9) There is a relationship between the story of the flood in Gilgamesh and the story from the Hebrew Bible. In Gilgamesh the Gods decide to destroy mankind through a flood. Utnapishtim found out there was going to be a flood so he brought a crew to help him escape. Noah saved God’s story and faith from the flood, while Utnapishtim followed directions from the Gods. Noah brought his family on the boat with him, his family is important to him.  Tablet V of the Epic of Gilgamesh  The emphasis and morals were different in both stories. Noah did what was right to do and brought his family, Utnapishtim did what was best for himself. In both Gilgamesh and the Hebrew Bible, the Gods promise to never kill mankind with a flood again.
